Mentor Program
Dedicated Mentors providing supervision, guidance, and support throughout the Fellowship.
JFYF Mentor Program
While in rare cases, Jared's Fund can help a Fellow connect with a Mentor, in most cases it is required that potential Fellows apply with a Mentor already in mind. A good Mentor is someone who can help guide you through your project — a teacher, coach, professional, or community member. Not all Mentors have to be subject matter experts. The most important thing is that they are organized and can help you think through your project and stay on track. In general, close family members are discouraged from becoming Mentors. Mentors are asked to sign an agreement before finalizing the relationship with the Fellow and Jared's Fund.
Mentors meet with their Fellow(s) at least once a week, offering feedback, troubleshooting challenges, and bringing their own professional or lived experience in the mental health field to bear. The role is intentionally flexible — Mentors are encouraged to bring creativity and energy to the partnership while remaining sensitive to the emotionally complex nature of their Fellows' work.
